Description:
This course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, diagnose, and classify illnesses in young infants. Sick young infants, defined as those aged 0-2 months, often present with unique clinical challenges and require prompt and accurate evaluation.
Goal:
Assess and classify the sick young infant" is to ensure that leaners have the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to promptly and accurately evaluate the health status of infants and provide appropriate care and interventions. This contributes to reducing infant mortality and improving the overall health outcomes of young infants.
Objectives:
By the end of the course, the student should be able to:
1.0 explain how to assess and classify the sick young infant age 2months to 5years
2.0 discuss how to check young infant for possible bacterial infection/ jaundice
3.0 Explain how to check for diarrhoea
4.0 Classify diarrhoea
5.0 Explain how to Communicating with the caretaker
6.0 Discuss the process for checking for Feeding problems or malnutrition
7.0 Explain the process for checking immunization status.
8.0 demonstrate the procedure for Assessing other problems
