The course is designed to provide the students with the knowledge of basic principles, concepts and skills guiding the practice of community mental health. It highlights the recognition, prevention and treatment of patients with mental disorders in the community
Goal:
This course is designed to enable the students understand management processes for PHC implementation in Nigeria.
Objectives:
At the end of the unit, the learners should be able to:
1.0 Describe the concept of mental disorders
2.0 Explain factors that causes mental illness/ mental disorder
3.0 Describe the management of various mental illness in the community mental health
4.0 Describe treatment techniques available for all clients in the community mental health
