Description:

This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills of how human immune system works and the diseases it suffers as well as ways of controlling and preventing them.

Goal:

This course will provide learners with knowledge and skills in understanding the nature and pathology of diseases affecting the immune system.

Objectives:

On completion of this course, the student should be able to:

1.0  Discuss anatomy and physiology of the immune system

2.0  Discuss clinical evaluation of the immune status

3.0  Discuss immunologically mediated tissue injury

4.0  Discuss immunodeficiency diseases, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)

5.0  Discuss autoimmunity and autoimmune diseases

6.0  Discuss immune reactions
