Pharmacology of ENT widens the horizon of students on pharmacology as it relates to the ear, nose and throat care. This in turn, prepares them on correct use of drugs and drug dosaging in effective management of ENT conditions in the community.

Goal:

This course is designed to enable students acquire knowledge on pharmacology as it relates to community ENT care.

Objectives:

By the end of the course, the student should be able to:

1.0       Describe pharmacology of ENT

2.0       Discuss drug nomenclature and drug preparation in ENT

3.0       Discuss dosage forms of drugs and drug classification in ENT

4.0       Discuss relevant pharmaceutical abbreviations in prescription writing

5.0       Describe routes of administration of ENT drugs

6.0       Describe manifestations of some systemically administered ENT drugs

7.0    Describe side effects, contraindications and adverse drug reactions of ENT drugs
