This course describes the care of women within the childbearing age as well as types of health services provided during the preconception, antenatal, intra-natal and postnatal stages in order to reduce maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality

Goal:

This course is designed to enhance students’ competence in providing maternal health care services, diagnose and manage newborn and maternal conditions and emergencies in line with global standards so as to contribute to the reduction of maternal and newborn mortality.

Objectives:

By the end of the course, the student should be able to:

2.0  Describe Pre-conception Care

3.0  Explain Respectful Maternity Care

4.0  Describe Antenatal Care

5.0  Explain the Intrapartum Care

6.0  Explain the Post partum Care

7.0  Discuss Obstetric Emergency Care

8.0  Describe Post Abortion Care

9.0  Discuss Quality of Care in Maternal Health Services
